Digging...
So what have the Coms been up to? DIGGING!!! We are getting closer and closer to pouring out foundation and we can't wait to start building our addition! We don't have a dining room right now... so we haven't sat down to eat a meal with the family inside our house since we've moved here in April! It's sort of like... sit where you can. We had to dig 3 feet down all the way around the foundation, and then we had to smooth it out and take out the extra dirt so that the top was smooth. I didn't get any pics of that, but when we pour hopefully I can put some pictures of that up here.
The addition will be our living room, (we're changing our old living room into the dining room) sewing room, play room, mud boot room and Abby's room. We'll keep updating when we get new things built on.
Man's (or Woman's) Best Friend... this is the coolest post hole digger that worked GREAT for digging our foundation.

NBT - Team Spirit
Lol! Here are some face paint pictures for NBT - Warrior Wars. It was team spirit night, and the swords and shields were competing. I was on the red swords.
Here's the Shields team. A few minutes after all the girls came in with the blue paint, they asked if they could go out because it was burning their faces! And, they used food coloring, so it didn't come off too well!
Here's me for the swords

Lol! And this was the best face of all! Gage Parke.
And Jesse Heady
Well, I will keep putting up more of the pictures from NBT. Hope you enjoy these and please leave comments and let me know what you think!

Jenny and I...
...decided that we wanted to make some fun pictures to decorate our bedroom with. We aren't done with them yet (we still need to frame them) but we thought you'd like to see what we made.
I found these pictures in a craft magazine and really wanted to make them.
So Jen drew the birds and I drew the leaves and branches.
Here's one of the pictures after we finished.
Here's another one!
Now all three! It's a picture story... it starts out with two birds, then it shows the "parents" with the three eggs, and the third picture shows the whole family. Neat, huh?
We thought that these colors would go well with our room color and style.
Once we get the pictures framed and up on the wall, I'll post a picture of the final products. Do you like them? They were a lot of fun to make!
Sports Week...
Oops! I never posted this post while I was at camp! I just found it in my drafts...
Anyway, Sports Week was the last week at camp. It was actually really fun. Amy, myself, Jessie and Faith were the only staff girls that stayed that week to help out in the kitchen and help get the camp ready to close down.
About 20-25 boys and guys participated in the Sports Week... but it was new and they are hoping for a better turn out next year. I think everyone had a great time. The Dignan guys were there and it was great seeing them again. Bro. Dignan is a really cool guy with a heart for God. He really encouraged me through his messages and also just by talking to him one on one.

We got in some good games of Spoons in too.
...and some Texas Hold 'em
I forgot about paintball... we had some GREAT times playing paintball there! Here's Caleb sneaking up on the other team.

Great Grandma's Relish
Hey all! I know, it's not the most interesting post, but I'm waiting for the relish. My Grandma gave me a recipe for the best relish in the world a while back. She got it from her mom. So, she has given some to us for different occasions, and it is so good! So, I finally got my courage up to try and make it! We got to pick the Pecks garden while they're in Minnesota. I was wondering how I was going to get "green" tomatoes for the recipe, but I got some in their garden! So, all we had to get, was the peppers. It was neat. Anyways, yesterday I chopped up the veggies, and then it had to sit for a night. So, this morning I put everything together and it's simmering for 1 and 1/2 hours. So, I'm kinda bored, and I have to keep stirring it every few minutes. So, here a few pics and the recipe I'm using.
Here's the recipe:
- Josie's Relish -
Grind all these together.
-
3 lbs. red tomatoes
3 lbs. green tomatoes
1 med. cabbage
1 quart onions
4 red peppers
4 green peppers
1 bunch of celery
-
Add 1/2 cup salt. Let stand in a container over night. Then drain and wash off salt. In a large pot, place rinsed veggies. To that add:
-
5 1/2 c. white vinegar
7 or 8 cups of white sugar
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup white mustard seed
-
Cook slowly 1 1/2 hours. Place in clean canning jars and place in a water bath for 10 minutes. Remove and let cool down. Re-tighten lids when cool.
And of course all the other necessary things you do in canning. With sterilizing, cleaning, packing, etc. Anyways, hope you enjoy this! Thanks!
