5-Day-Clubs

We had our first 5-day-Bible-club last week. We canvassed and everything but we didn't have any kids. So we just did "demos". James Peck (10) Katie Bass (around 10 or 11) Joshua (11) and Abby (8) were there when we did the demos, so they answered questions and listened, but we didn't have any kids from the neighborhood. So finally, on the last day, Friday, a car pulls up with an older brother, and 2 little kids. Emmy (around 6) and Jaline who was 10 I think. Anyways, they came right after the memory verse, just in time for the Bible Lesson. Mrs. Rogers went over and asked if they wanted to come and do the club, and they said yes. They had actually come to play baseball, but they decided to come and join us. Jordan Peck was telling the Bible lesson. When she had the invitation, she asked that anyone who would like to ask Jesus to wash away their sin, and to come into their heart, and tell him they believed in him, to please look up at her. (We all had our heads bowed and eyes closed) Jaline looked up at her, but she didn't know if he just got distracted, or if he was serious. So after the club was done he started to walk over to her. And... she got to lead him to the Lord! It was very exciting, and it taught us that we should be very patient in those types of situations. You know, we could have stopped doing the club on the 3rd day, or we could have stopped in the middle of it on Friday, but we didn't, and we kept going. And as a result, Jaline got saved. If we had stopped, he wouldn't have got saved. It was very neat! We are having a second one in our front yard, so if you'll could pray that kids will come and get saved, that'd be great!

- Prayer Request -
Hey everyone. I would just like to ask you all to pray for the 5-day-Bible-Club we are going to be having this Monday to Friday. Please pray that we will have nice weather, lots of kids will come, and that lots of kids will be open and that they will get saved. Even some parents or teens. Please pray. It does work, and it will help. Please pray a hedge of protection around us and all that we will be doing. Thanks!

- Cola Clash -

This week we had a teen event at our church called the Cola Clash. The Pepsi team against The Coke team. I was on the coke team. They also had neat shirts you could buy for $10.00 that said Cola-Clash. Red for Coke or blue for Pepsi. Our church teens went our with the Leaders of the event on Monday and Tuesday to canvass and invite kids from the neighborhoods to come. Whatever kids came because Pepsi invited them, were on the Pepsi team, and the same for Coke.

The event started on Wednesday, ended Friday, and started at 6:00 - 8:30 P.M. It was very fun! 17 kids got saved as a result, and a few kids made important decisions. It was good.

The group leaders were very fun as well! The over-all leader was Mr. Barber. His wife was very sweet. Then for the Pepsi was Matt and Summer. For Coke it was Nick and Mary-Jane. They were so much fun! They were very competitive! The Coke's cheers were: everyone yelling "red hot" for Coke if we got a point, and "boo-ya" for Pepsi of they got a point. Then each team had special cheers. For the Coke it was, " I'm a Coke fan, and I know I can, beat, the Pepsi, beat, the Pepsi". Then for the Pepsi it was " Hey, you! Get out of my face! We're Pepsi-Cola and we're takin first place!".

Here's the schedule for the nights:
Wednesday:
Big Ball Volleyball, then Tube Tug. That was very fun! Then everyone went inside and got their food, (nachos) and then sat down. They had a funny, disgusting, comedy, Trivia (Pepsi won) cheering competition, (Coke won) Cola Competition (who could down a soda the fastest without spilling the most) (Coke won) the leaders singing, a testimony by Matt, and then a 25 minutes message.
Thursday:
Big Ball Basketball, then Spoke Tackle. That was extremely fun! You sat down like the spokes of a wheel, the guy would call out your spoke number, and you would get up and run as fast as you can to be the first one to touch the tube in the middle. All the way around, if someone was in your way from the other team, you could tackle, push, shove, hip toss, anything went. You were the boss. Whoever touched the tube first, Coke or Pepsi, that team would get the point. Then everybody went inside again and we had food, then Trivia, ( Pepsi won) cheering, (Pepsi won) Cola Competition, which was a burping competition. James Tomas won. He just kept sucking in air, and then kaboom! Pepsi won! Then there was a comedy, singing, testimony by Nick, then a message.
Friday:
Big Ball Foosball, and....tug of war over the mud pit! It smelled like cow stuff! It was nasty! So... they had Coke guys and Pepsi guys go first. And of course the Coke guys won. Then they had Coke girls and Pepsi girls go second. And of course Coke won. Then they had the whole Coke team against the whole Pepsi team, and of course the Coke team won! Then we went inside for food, Trivia, which Coke won, Cola competition, who could down the soda the fastest, which Coke won, a cheering competition which Pepsi won, singing, and then testimony's by any of the kids, then a message.

So here are some pics of it all. We had movies, but they didn't work!
This is Matt, the Pepsi leader, looking very intimidating. He's the one in the blue shirt. He has an awesome testimony.

Here's Nick, our Coke leader. He was sneaky competitive! I know, it isn't the greatest pic, but that is one of the only ones I have of him! :D

This is Summer, Pepsi's girl captain. She's in the blue shirt and denim skirt, to the left. Sorry I don't have better ones of them!Mary-Jane is the one to the farthest left in the red shirt and denim skirt. She was really fun and competitive. She was 21, and Coke's girl captain.
This is the over-all leader of the whole Cola Clash, Jonathan Barber.

Pictures From Camp...

Oh boy! I can't get this post to work!!! So excuse the pictures that are just all over the place!

Hey all! Sorry it's been so long... but boy, they keep us busy around here! Here are some pics from last week.... enjoy! I still haven't gotten pics of everything, but I'm trying! I will upload all of my pics to Picasa as soon as I get them on my site. I'll give a link.

I had more pics on Mrs. Bishop's old computer, but it crashed! So I hope that when Dad comes he can help get them off!

Things have just been going SOOOO well. I love the preaching especially. Bro. Dignan was here this past week and he was so great! I really enjoyed it.

We keep busy morning until... early morning hours! We don't get much sleep around here, but that's okay... we are all loving it! Yesterday the Dawsons (are any of you familiar with Rick Dawson?) rented some boats and we all went out on the lake... we had a BLAST! My body is SOOO sore from swimming, jumping off from the cliffs, etc. but it was so worth it.

I hope to get those pics up soon... because they sort of showed what we did around the camp. I still don't have pics of Faith, Caleb and Jake yet, but I'll get some!

Take care and enjoy the pics!

P.S. If you have any questions that you want me to answer, let me know and I will post back my answers!
Hey all! Just wanted to update you on all that happened at SMITE. SMITE stands for "Summer Missionary Institute for Training and Evangelism". It is a big camp in Louisiana for people to go and train to do 5-Day-Bible-Clubs. A five day club is where you go around to different neighborhoods, and invite kids to meet in a yard or a park for a "Five Day Bible Club". Usually you go about an hour before the Club is supposed to start. So then when it is time to start, you start off with the Pledge of Allegiance, then prayer, songs, a Bible story, songs, a Missionary story, games, review questions, and if you have time in between there, more songs. It goes on for 5 days, (Obviously)

The Rogers took Me, Jordan, Ben, Caleb Peck, Arie Mikesell, Natalea Bass, and Shelby Rogers down there. The camp starts on Sunday night and ends on Friday night. I had a blast down there! I was in a room, and on a team with Natalea, Harley, and Miss Cindy. She was our counselor. Harley is 15. We actually had our 5 day club in a daycare. Lots of the "girl teams" had daycares. SO you had classes in the morning teaching you how to do the Clubs, and then you ate lunch, then you went to do you Clubs, then you came back and had a night service. The preaching and singing was awesome! Some of the best singing I've heard from 400 teens.

Anyways, the first day was Memorial day, and we had the only daycare that was open, but we only had 5 kids, and all but 1 were little. But the next day when we walked in, we were greeted by lots of kids yelling, laughing, and playing! It was loud! We had 22! I think the most we had all week was 24. The second day, Tuesday, right after the Bible story, Natalea had an invitation. She told the kids that if anyone wanted to talk with her more, to go see her in the back. 2 girls came and got saved! They were about 8 or 9. Their names were Jaline and Jasmine. Then on Friday, another girl got saved after the Bible story. She was about 6 or 7. That was very exciting! Caleb's team had more than 20 saved, Arie's and Ben's had quite a few saved, and Jordan led a little red head girl to the Lord on Memorial Day. They were out soul-winning because their daycare was closed. She was very excited!

Now the whole reason for SMITE is to train people to do five day Bible clubs, so that they can do them in their own neighborhoods, and at their own churches. So we are going to try to do at least 12 Bible Clubs this summer before school starts again. We are hoping we can teach other people to do Clubs so we can have more than 1 going at a time. We are also praying for 50 to 200 kids being saved in the Clubs. If you could help us pray for that, that'd be great!

I'd better be going now, but I hope you guys enjoy reading this. And no! I did not come back speaking like a Southerner! No way!
