"Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted; But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways."
Scripture Sunday...

Josh's Surprise Party...
Well, we had a surprise birthday party for Josh. And we even managed it to be on his birthday! Mr. Dorsey and the Pecks came. We had a blast, as you can see from the pics.

Happy Birthday Josh...
Joshua - Josh didn't want to sit down and write about his year, so I finally forced some info out of him that I will now share with you all.
Josh is 12 today on January 26th. He is in the 6th grade this year, doing well and enjoying his favorite subject... Math! He is very helpful to Dad each week, putting together the Hughes Net satellite dishes that Dad installs all over our area. He also helped Dad wire our addition, and put up our electrical boxes and lights.
He's also got a new part time ministry at church... running the camera that records the services. He really enjoys it and just the other night someone remarked that he really "has a knack for it".
Josh enjoyed fishing in Arkansas. The family came down and vested me at camp during the 4th of July week, and we went to a huge lake in Heber Springs to fish, boat, swim, and jump off cliffs. Josh caught 42 fish using his special fishing technique... ! He also enjoyed the water slide at camp... he bought his own tube and found that it went about 3 times faster than the mats... sweet!
Josh really enjoyed our trip to Branson this month. He really liked playing on the pool table that was in the game room at the hotel.
And that's about all he gave me.

Movie Monday...
If you want to listen to the video, you'll want to pause the music player down below!
This is me (Brittany) along with two friends, Zac and Stephanie Powers. We were asked to sing this song for my graduation in 2005. We were nervous wrecks, but it's a powerful song and I wanted to share it with you all. The song was written by a friend of ours, Abigail Miller. Click on her name below to go to her website. Hope you enjoy!
I Can Go In
Words and Music by Abigail Miller
(adopted from a sermon by Charles Haddon Spurgeon)
He stood beside the gate of Heaven, waiting to go in,
And he wondered how this Holy Place could take a man like him.
With shouts of great rejoicing and with music then they came,
Of the angels standing by him he asked what could be their name?
"These are the company of prophets. The goodly fellowship of souls,"
"Who spake God's Word with faith and boldness;
who blessed the poor, and made the wounded whole."
"Oh," he fell upon his knees, and cried, "I am not one of these."
He waited 'til another band of shining ones drew nigh,
They entered into Heaven with a "Hallelujah" cry.
He asked again, "Who are these? Can you tell me whence they came?"
He seemed to see the answer in a burning tongue of flame.
"These are the company of martyrs, the mighty fellowship of Saints."
"Who knew our Lord and walked beside Him."
"Who ran the holy race and did not faint."
"Oh," he fell upon his knees, and cried, "I am not one of these."
Then suddenly, a multitude was heard from far away.
Their voices rang with songs of joy like children at their play.
He saw Rahab, he saw David, Mary Magdalene and Paul,
And the thief who died by Jesus was the one who led them all.
"Who are these?!" he almost shouted at the angels.
"These are the sinners saved by grace!"
"The host of them who called upon the Savior;"
"Washed in Blood and justified by faith!"
And, oh...he leaped up from his knees! "Oh, I can go in with these!!!!"
"And I can go in, for my heart is free from sin."
"I've been washed in the Blood, everlasting life to win."
"I can rejoice, I can lift up my voice...I can sing...and I can go in."

Tuesday's Tips...
Here are the 10 points of the message Pastor Davis preached on Sunday.
January 10th
Psalm 33:16-18
1. Teach children in the area of discretion and discernment
- Why Parents Don't Protect their Children -
1. Too much work
2. They don't like to say "no"
3. Requires too much of their time
Children need to trust their parents.
3. Make it a key goal for your children to be strong in Spirit
The most significant thing you can measure in a child, is the strength of thier spirit.
4. Do your best to keep your children from temptation.
5. Keep an open line of communication with your kids.
6. Cry out to God for a hedge of protection for each member of the family every day.
7. Pray that God will let you find out things that are going on in your family
8. Teach children to cry out to God if in danger in any way.
9. Make your home a place filled with love and protection
And last but not least...
10. Trust God
Disclaimer from Britt and Jo...
First of all... we were rushed. Never bake something new if you're rushed.
Secondly, we didn't have all of the ingredients. That's a problem!
Thirdly... well, I don't suppose there's a thirdly, but I plan on trying this recipe again when we have everything it calls for and I have more than 15 minutes to put it together.
Signing Off, Brittany and Jo
